Green Static

At the edge of Stanley Park, the Wire Choir goes quiet. Inside, it fails completely. Schedules turn approximate, clocks drift, and the ideas you were carrying in with you simply disappear. This is the Green Static, and it is the one place in Terminal City where the city cannot hear itself.

That is the point. In place of the lost signal come things nobody sent: a melody, a colour, a picture, a rhythm that refuses the grid. Artists and Repair People walk into the trees on purpose to lose the signal and see what turns up instead. Whatever they bring out is unauthorized, and unauthorized does not mean unwanted.

The Outer Circuit runs around the park but never gets in. The Nocturnals pass through it easily. Without the Green Static, the city would become perfectly synchronized, and a perfectly synchronized city is a silent one. Lose signal. Go green. Hear nothing. Bring something back.
